The Faculty of Human, Social, and Political Science (HSPS) comprises 4 Departments:
- Department of Archaeology (Archaeology Tripos)
- Department of Politics and International Studies (HSPS Tripos)
- Department of Sociology (HSPS Tripos)
- Department of Social Anthropology (HSPS Tripos)
Each of these departments has a worldwide reputation for teaching and research, there are two undergraduate curriculum (Triposes) within the Faculty; The HSPS Tripos, which is taught by the Department of Politics and International Studies, the Deartment of Social Anthropology and the Department of Sociology. The Archaeology Tripos, which is taught by the Department of Archaeology. Both Triposes are designed to serve both students who have a clear disciplinary commitment at the time of application as well as those who want a broader multidisciplinary degree.
At the graduate level, there are established one-year M.Phils in:
- Archaeology (including Assyriology and Egyptology)
- Biological Anthropology
- International Relations and Politics
- Social Anthropology
- Sociology
- Latin American Studies
- South Asian Studies
- African Studies
- Development Studies
- Gender Studies
